Let’s not just build India’s future. Let’s build it right.

By tataadmin, 9 July, 2025

A recent PwC report projects that India could reach $9.8 trillion in economic activity by 2035. That’s not just a statistic—it’s a statement of possibility.

But this future won’t be built on GDP alone. It will rest on the shoulders of leadership—across sectors, communities, and generations—that’s as ambitious as it is anchored in values.

To me, this growth story is not just about becoming an economic powerhouse. It’s about how we get there. As a leader, I believe the next decade demands five foundational qualities:

1. Purpose with pragmatism

It’s not enough to chase scale. We must ask: Are we solving real problems? Are we creating impact where it’s needed most—whether it’s in rural connectivity, urban resilience, or sustainability? Purpose without execution is a dream. Execution without purpose is directionless.

2. Collaboration over silos

No one company or ministry will build India of 2035. The future will be co-authored—by startups, large enterprises, governments, and civil society. At Tata Projects, our best outcomes have emerged when we worked with, not just for, our partners and stakeholders.

3. Grit in execution

India’s growth won’t come from plans alone—it will come from the grit to execute them. The kind that shows up on a rain-drenched construction site, in catching up with delays, in last-mile hurdles.

4. Decency as a competitive advantage

Being fair, respectful, and ethical is not a weakness—it’s a strength. In the India we’re building, the companies that treat people, communities, and partners with decency will win enduring trust and social license to operate.

5. Leadership that listens

Top-down is out. Dialogue is in. Leaders must listen—not just to data, but to people. Especially those at the margins. And to all our partners. Personally, I carry the belief that leadership is not a title—it is a responsibility to shape the future while holding on to the values of empathy, fairness, and sustainability.

At Tata Projects, we are proud to contribute to India’s growth story—through infrastructure and industries that connect, empower, and endure. But we are equally committed to how we build: with care, conscience, and community.

2035 is closer than it feels. The question isn’t just “Will we get there?” It’s “Can we become the kind of leaders who make getting there worthwhile for everyone?”

Let’s not just build India’s future. Let’s build it right. Scale is always the outcome of the right strategy and intent.
